Join RUMOBIL study trips!

As the RUMOBIL pilot phase enters its final stages, the project partners invite stakeholders of public transport to participate in study trips to learn more about the piloted approaches. Participation is free of charge but participants other than those already engaged in RUMOBIL activities have to cover their own travel arrangements and accommodation costs. If you are keen to join one of the trips, please send a short message detailing your background and why you are interested by e-mail. In turn, you will receive detailed information about the visit and the programme. Due to limited capacities, we ask for your understanding that we might not accommodate all interested persons.


HERE ARE OUR STUDY TRIPS OFFERS :

Modena (Emilia-Romagna, Italy) – On May 10th, 2018 & June 27th, 2018 - aMo is pleased to show how the pilot project has been implemented in the city of Castelfranco Emilia to the Partners and key transport actors who will visit Modena. Visit will include introduction of the pilot and then the call center of the on demand service. Guests will also have the opportunity to experience the on demand service Prontobus just like a citizen of Castelfranco Emilia.

In the morning, after the welcome from the municipality of Modena, the pilot will be introduced and then the call center of the on demand service will be visited.

This will give the possibility to see the new system developed for the pilot project at work and to the present Stakeholders to discuss about mutual experiences and challenges in rural mobility. In the afternoon there will be a meeting with the municipality of Castelfranco Emilia where will be illustrated the experience of administrators who have had the pilot project in their territory. Guests will also have the opportunity to experience the on demand service Prontobus just like a citizen of Castelfranco Emilia. Later in the afternoon, there will be a unofficial part with a visit at the Ferrari Museum and the medieval city center.

Płock (Mazovia, Poland) – On May 16th& 17th, 2018 partners and project stakeholders are invited to directly familiarize themselves with and test the application possibilities "tropKM”. In Płock they will be able to see the modernized interchange (bus and train). In addition, the possibility of using a kiosk (purchased as part of the RUMOBIL project and localized at the station) in the planning of travel by trains and also downloading the application free of charge.

The tracking system of the "tropKM" trains has been made available to passengers of the north-western part of Mazovia at the beginning of August 2017. It is a modern, innovative IT system, which is designed to help in planning a trip by rail transport among the inhabitants of rural areas.

On May 16th in the morning, a trip to Płock is organized in order to see the modernized interchange (bus and train). In addition, the possibility of using a kiosk (purchased as part of the RUMOBIL project and localized at the station) in the planning of travel by trains on Mazowieckie Railways will be presented. At noon a meeting with representatives of the local government is scheduled in Sierpc, to get familiarized with the region, its values, the society inhabiting the local areas and the communication needs and transport possibilities of the population. In the afternoon participants will get on a regular train to get acquainted with the "tropKM" application. Each participant of the study visit will be able to download the application free of charge and check its usefulness. On the train there will be passengers who can be directly questioned, what they think about our train monitoring system and whether it facilitated travel planning. On Thursday, May 17, partners and participants are invited to a meeting with Mazowieckie Railways, the largest regional rail carrier in Mazovia. At the meeting, among others, we will try to answer the questions whether the development of public transport in rural areas is possible with respect to competition with individual transport.

Kaplice (South Bohemia region, Czech Republic) – On May 15th , 2018. The area of pilot project in South Bohemia is low density hilly rural area close to the town of Kaplice. The new pilot bus line is led from the railway station Kaplice to operate neighbouring municipalities and settlements/solitudes with the destination city of Benešov nad Černou. The aim of the pilot bus line is to change the current situation of public transport in the area. Passengers will be provided not only by pilot bus, but they will also get access to the regional and national public transport system (express trains ordered and financed by the Ministry of Transport). Study trip will start at railway station in České Budějovice. Visitors will get out in intermodal station Kaplice – nádraží and transfer to pilot bus line. They will ride the whole route of bus line through rural area to final destination Benešov nad Černou (40 minutes) with arrival just before lunch.

Trip back will be organised by car with stops at interesting places of pilot route (e.g. place of planned new bus stop, or touristic attractions). In case of interest a short hiking trip (1.3 km) through the valley of river Černá (approx. 20 - 30 min) could be included.

After field trip a meeting with representatives of microregion Kaplice will follow. Program of the meeting is a presentation of pilot action and open discussion with relevant stakeholders. After that there will be possibility to see a museum of horse-drawn-railway track in Bujanov.

Osterburg (Saxony-Anhalt, Germany)- On May 30th, 2018, partners and key transport actors are invited to learn first-hand about The Citizen Bus project. Guests will get the opportunity to test the Citizen Bus, taking part in a short excursion to the surrounding villages of the city of Osterburg and learn on how the Citizen bus improves situation on site.

In February 2018, Saxony-Anhalt's first Citizen Bus has started in Osterburg (Germany). The new bus service supplements the public transport in rural/ peripheral areas. The Citizen Bus is realized by the local community and its residents. A mini bus with 8 passenger seats is driven by volunteers.

A mini bus with 8 passenger seats is driven by volunteers. On 30 May 2018, partners and key transport actors are invited to learn first-hand about this innovative approach in Osterburg. In the morning (10.00-12.15h), guests are invited to discuss with local stakeholders on pilot site and project. We will exchange on challenges in the provision of public transport in Saxony-Anhalt's rural areas, new public transport services to face demographic change, and the uniqueness of the Citizen Bus project. After having lunch, guests will get the opportunity to test the Citizen Bus (13.00-15.30h). In the late afternoon, further "unofficial" sightseeing will be provided.

Nagykálló/Nyíregyháza (Hungary) - Between 24th & 26th September 2018, partners and key stakeholders are invited to test the new service and to learn more about the region's situation. Participants will take part in a travelling between Nyíregyháza-Nagykálló and take the opportunity to test the new system, visit the main bus terminal in Nyíregyháza, headquarters of ÉMKK (regional PT operator), where the new system is being operated.
In August 2018, the pilot development at Nagykálló (Hungary) will be finalized, where a real time bus-information system will be realized. The town is going get ultra-modern bus-stops equipped with information panels, wifi accessibility, storage places for bikes, furthermore green spaces by the bus-stop’s surroundings. Along Nyíregyháza and Nagykálló will be implemented a traffic monitoring system that provide real time data for information plates to inform waiting passengers more accurately. The new development will support the rural audience to reach the capital city Nyíregyháza more comfortable and expected to mean solution for demographic changes.

10:00-13:00 The first station of the study trip will be of course the pilot area, where participants will be able to observe the investment phase of the development. After having lunch, 14:00-15:00 participants will take part in a travelling between Nyíregyháza-Nagykálló and take the opportunity to test the new system.

15:00-16:00 Guests take a visit by the main bus terminal in Nyíregyháza. At this site they can visit also the headquarters of ÉMKK (regional PT operator), where the new system is being operated. 16:00-17:00 Participants visit the main train station, where they can observe how the regional public transport lines connect to the TEN-T networks and what means the lack of the intermodal node and what kind of planned developments are expected. After the program, an “informal” sightseeing will be provided.

Ozalj (Croatia) – On August 22nd, 2018 - HŽ PP is organizing a Study trip to Ozalj. Guest will experience train ride from Croatia capital to this particular rural area where will be held meeting with representatives of City of Ozalj and other stakeholders as well with all involved parties such as local community and then guests will be taken to round tour around rural area to see the concept of tourist offer.

Since March 2017, HZ PP has started pilot action of introducing tourist trains to rural area of City Ozalj. Ozalj is a town in central Croatia (Karlovac County), located north of Karlovac and southwest of Jastrebarsko, on the Kupa River. This particular area was selected due to low transport offer of daily commuters and large scale of demographic changes. Community’s priorities are to enable further cultural development, expand tourist offer, to keep young people from emigration and to preserve natural resources. In August 2018, HŽ PP is organizing a Study trip to Ozalj. Our guest will experience train ride from Croatia capital to this particular rural area where will be held meeting with representatives of City of Ozalj and other stakeholders as well with all involved parties such as local community. After the lunch break, we will take our guests to round tour around rural area and show them concept of tourist offer. In coordination with local community, we will show natural beauty of this particular rural area, opportunities this area and inhabitants are offering with future impact on enhancing transportation offer.
