The National Park administration on the Czech side carries out activities for the protection of the National Park area, in particular the regeneration of natural forests, preservation of protected, endangered and rare plant and animal species. The administration also comments on spatial development plans in terms of their impact on nature and landscape of the area.

The Krkonoše Mountains National Park takes part in all work packages while considering the specific needs of a national highly protected area in terms of GI assessment and improvement in the mountainous area of the Giant Mountains on the Czech side. The project team in Vrchlabí communicates the benefits of the GI concept to the regional stakeholders and communities surrounding the park. Beside the GI and public benefit assessment they train local stakeholders how to use the tools and action plans developed for the improvement of GI in the Giant Mountains. Project outputs will provide the means to provide the environmental evaluation and detailed
rationale for actions & outline measures required by the Czech Territorial System of Ecological Stability and to have parity of information with the neighbouring Polish project partner Karkonosze National Park.
