Heavy Rain Event in Karcag

The city of Karcag in Hungary was hit by a rain event on 29th of May. 30,5 mm of rain where registered within 30 minutes. The rain event caused for example flooded streets and a high number of calls to the fire brigades.

Karcag shows similarities to the Hungarian pilot area, so an analysis of the rain event can provide interesting information for the RAINMAN pilot area. A sub-office of RAINMAN partner “Middle Tisza District Water Directorate” is situated in Karcag and the local colleagues sent pictures that give an impression of the impacts of the event .

The event showed again, how important it is to be aware of rain risks!
